Tawanda Maposa is a skillful all-rounder from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. A hard-hitting Right-hander that can bat anywhere in the middle/lower order, he is also an energetic Right-arm Fast/Medium seamer. From a cricketing family, his younger brother Tino is a current Zimbabwean International but Tawanda is not without his own honours, touring England with Zimbabwe A in 2024.

A keen cricketer from a young age, Tawanda represented the Tuskers through the age groups and was a non-travelling reserve for the 2020 ICC Under 19 World Cup. A little over 12 months later, Tawanda made his first professional appearance, a 50-Over debut against the Eagles in the Pro50 Championship 3rd place play-off.

A genuine all-rounder, his inconsistent performances in the early stages of his career kept his best work confined to club cricket, playing for Amakhosi CC in the Bulawayo Metro League as well as in the National Premier League (NPL).

An opportunity to tour England in 2024 with the Zimbabwe A/U25 squad was a turning point for Tawanda. An excellent 3-24 in a big win over Glamorgan and 4-39 against Nottinghamshire were tour highlights but he showed his ability to clear the ropes on a couple of occasions as well. His performances didn’t go unnoticed as he was selected for the Cape Town Samp Army in the ZimAfro T10 in September 2024.

His first class debut came in October 2026, scoring 82 (92) batting at No 7 for the Tuskers, an excellent start and his place in the team across all three formats has been secured, with some good one-day form including excellent 3-12 that had Mountaineers 3-16 before rain spoiled the party.

Seeking a return to the UK in 2026 for his first club placement, Tawanda will be a good pick up for any club seeking a genuine seam-bowling all rounder who will have a strong impact at club level next summer. Tawanda holds an ECB Level 2 coaching qualification.
