Teague Wyllie is the most highly-rated young batter in Australia right now after becoming the youngest person in 30 years, since the great Ricky Ponting, to score a Sheffield shield century. 2022 has been an incredible year for Teague that saw him top the runs for the Australian team at the U19 World Cup (despite being a bottom age player) which got him selected in the ICC team of the tournament. Soon after returning he made his Sheffield Shield debut and in April became the youngest person to win the Sheffield Shield in the 120 year history of the competition.

A classy, hard-working Right-hander, Teague has played with maturity beyond his years at every level of the game. Not overawed with the hype that comes with some of his achievements, this humble young man has the focus to make the most of his talents at the highest level.

So where did it start…..

A junior of Rockingham-Mandurah, Teague first appeared for the club at U13 level, aged 11, scoring 298 runs @ 74.50. He played U13 & U15 as a 12 year old in 2016-17, scoring 579 runs @ 72.38. Similar numbers continued as he played above his age and was graded by the club in 2018-19 at 14, with an appearance in 2nd Grade returning an unbeaten 46* having dominated the lower grades.

He became a 1st XI regular at 15 and just 17 years old, having scored 382 runs @ 191.00 for the Western Australia 2nd XI in summer 2021-22, he was awarded his first Sheffield Shield cap in March 2022, scoring 42 on debut and winning the Shield in just his 2nd game.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2024, Teague is simply the hottest batting prospect available for next summer. Better still, this incredibly professional young man is an enthusiastic coach who will be only too happy to contribute around the club off-field.
