Thaveesha Abhishek

Thaveesha Abhishek Kahaduwaarachchi is a talented young Batter/Spinner from Galle, Sri Lanka. A compact Right-handed Top Order Batsman, Thaveesha is also a very capable Right-arm Off Spinner that has represented Saracens Sports Club and more recently Nondescripts Cricket Club in Sri Lanka’s domestic system across all three formats.

Educated at the prestigious Richmond College, Galle, one of the country’s best cricket schools, Thaveesha was a schoolboy star, captaining the school’s 1st XI. Having dominated at youth and school level, as well as for the Galle regional sides, Thaveesha was selected for the Sri Lankan U19 side in 2019 and represented Sri Lanka at the 2020 ICC Under 19 World Cup.

Prior to departing for the World Cup, Thaveesha had made his List A debut for Saracens SC in December 2019 but would have to wait for the resumption of professional cricket after the COVID break before re-appearing on the domestic scene. Despite the interruption and still a very young man, he’d played over 50 domestic professional games before his 23rd birthday.

Whilst his stats don’t yet reflect the talent, Thaveesha is a very highly regarded young talent and our Sri Lankan spies tell us there is a high-class cricketer in the making and that he’ll continue to improve.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Thaveesha joined Rolleston CC and was excellent, scoring 865 runs @ 37.61 and jagging 29 wickets @ 24.76.

Thaveesha will be an excellent pick up for any Club seeking a genuine all-round emerging talent for the summer.
