Thomas Kaber is a high-class spin-bowling all-rounder from Pretoria in South Africa. A very capable middle order Right-hander that values his wicket and can bat just about anywhere in the order, his main strike weapon is his rarely-sighted Left-arm Wrist spin or “Chinamen”. He is currently representing the Border Province in South Africa’s Provincial system.
A schoolboy prodigy, Thomas debuted for Northerns as a 16 year old against Kwa-Zulu Natal, bagging 5-85 (30) to set up a 10-wicket win for his native province. He would then not be sighted again for 2-3 seasons whilst he finished school but has gone on to play over 120 professional games mostly for Northerns but has been based in the Eastern Cape since 2018, representing Eastern Province/Warriors and now Border.
Thomas has flown under the radar in South Africa, with 150 wickets in 52 games impressive enough, it is the rate at which he takes them that impresses, with a strike rate of a wicket every 44 balls putting him in the upper echelon’s of wicket taking prowess with the red ball in his hand.
Thomas has had four seasons of overseas experience with a 2013 stint in Holland with Amsterdam CC followed by three Lancashire League stints with Colne (2015), Littleborough (2018) and East Lancs CC (2022)
Seeking a return to the Northern Hemisphere next summer, Thomas will be a great pick up for any club seeking a genuine spin-bowling all-rounder. Thomas will be travelling with his wife.
