Vraj Patel

Vraj Patel is a skillful spinner from the both polarising and enigmatic Cricket system that is, Kenya. A left-handed lower order batsman not renowned for giving the scorers too much grief, the can’t same be said of his bowling and the impact its had on associate batsmen since his debut for the national team as a 19-year old. He plays his club cricket with Swamibapa CC after a long stint with Ngara Sports Club who he joined having arrived from India in 2014.

Both an economical as well as wicket-taking Slow Left-arm Orthodox spinner, Vraj has climbed to 2nd position in the all-time wicket takers for Kenya in T20 International Cricket with paltry 86 wickets @ 14.15 at the time of writing.

Having represented Kenya at U19 level as a 16-year old in the 2019 ICC U19 World Cup Qualifiers, Vraj made his first senior appearance in September 2021 debuting against Nigeria in a tri-series with Uganda. His best bowling performance for Kenya came in just his 4th appearance, bagging 5-12 against Nigeria.

Overall, he’s been the country’s most consistent performer with the ball and in 2025, finished the ICC Africas T20 World Cup qualifiers as Kenya’s leading wicket taker for the 3rd time in a row at ICC qualifying events, as well as 6th overall in the wickets log.
