Wallace Mubayiwa

Wallace Mubayiwa is an emerging spin talent from Norton, just west of Harare. A Right-handed Batsman suited to the lower order that is stoic without being prolific, his headline skill is most definitely his Slow Left-arm Orthodox spin bowling. He is currently contracted to the Harare-based Eagles Franchise in the Zimbabwe domestic system.

Identified as a player of promise from a young age, Wallace was selected for the Zimbabwe U17 side to contest the 2015-16 Cricket South Africa National championships. He bagged 5 wickets @ 13.80 in 4 games, bagging a best of 3-20 against Limpopo.

A few years out of the mix post-school, he re-appeared for in the Zimbabwe domestic system in summer 2022-23, having signed for the Rhinos Franchise, making his List A debut against the Tuskers in October 2022 during the 2022–23 Pro50 Championship. A T20 debut for Lions against Mountaineers followed later that summer in February 2023 and in December 2023 during the 2023–24 Logan Cup, he made his First Class debut.

In March 2024, having been one of the best local spinners in the Domestic T20, with 8 wickets @ 14.25 including a best of 4-20 against the full-strength visiting Durham side, Wallace was selected to represent Zimbabwe Emerging players at the 2023-24 Africa Games. He was excellent for Zimbabwe, bagging 5 wickets @ 17.20 with a best of 3-20 against Tanzania and excellent figures of 1-15 (4) in the final against Namibia to help set up a tournament gold medal. He maintained his place in the Emerging squad for their tour to England in summer 2024.

Seeking his first full summer in the UK in 2025, Wallace will be a good pick up for any UK club seeking a quality young left-arm spinner for next summer. Wallace holds an ECB Level 2 having completed it during the Emerging players tour.
