Wesley Bedja is a skillful seam-bowling all-rounder from Cape Town, South Africa. A tall, Right-arm Fast bowler, Wesley has been a regular feature on the Western Province Cricket Circuit for the best part of the last decade. Through sheer weight of wickets, he has forced his way into the Cobras side off the back of club cricket performances, having not had the normal year in/year out age group provincial career that many of his contemporaries have had.
Originally representing Western Province Cricket Club, he shifted to Rondebosch CC and represented them wither side of COVID before a move to Green Point CC in summer 2022-23 changed the trajectory of his career, taking 50+ wickets in his first season for the club across all formats.
His 2023-24 season started much the same way and in December 2023, Wesley was selected to make his professional debut for the Cobras against the North West Dragons. He made his T20 at the back end of the summer against Western Cape rivals, Boland. A 50-over debut came in February 2025 and Wesley has become a genuine contributor for the Cobras in his first two seasons at the elite level.
Wesley has quite a lot of UK experience, having travelled to the UK for three seasons on the bounce between 2017-2019 as an amateur. His first summer in Cornwall with St Gluvias CC saw him accrue 302 runs @ 27.45 & pick up 23 wickets @ 16.57. His performance caught the eye of northern powerhouses, Tynemouth CC and spend the two summers before COVID with them, chipping in with 475 runs @ 14.39 and bagging 95 wickets @ 17.93 across his two summers in the ECB North East Premier League.
Now a full time cricketer, Wesley seeks to return to the UK for the first time as an overseas professional and after a very impressive start to his career, will be a great pick up for any UK club seeking a strike new ball bowler for this summer.
