William Mashinge hard-working All-Rounder from Marondera in Zimbabwe. A typically athletic and workman-like Zimbabwean cricketer that just goes about his job with as little fuss as possible, he had progressed from junior star through to representing Zimbabwe in a couple of T20I’s in Singapore in 2019. A capable right-handed Middle Order Batsman, William is a clever Right-arm Fast Medium seamer who has excelled with the red-ball for the most part. Born in Marondera, William made his first major representative appearance for the Zimbabwe U17 side in the Cricket South Africa U17 championships.

Having been a regular feature for Zimbabwe at U17/U19, William made his first-class debut for the Mountaineers Franchise in the Logan Cu in January 2016, aged 19, just before heading off to Bangladesh for the 2016 ICC Under 19 World Cup. He played in all six of Zimbabwe’s matches & top-scored with 66 runs from 92 balls in the ninth-place play-off against Afghanistan. He made his Twenty20 debut for Zimbabwe against Free State in the Africa T20 Cup later that year. Early in 2017, he was named in an academy squad by Zimbabwe Cricket to tour England. In Sept 2019, he was named in Zimbabwe’s Twenty20 International squad for the Singapore Tri-Nation Series and made his T20I debut against Nepal.

William is well-versed in English Cricket though, with 4 seasons of experience behind him between 2016-2019. First arriving as a 19 year old for Boconnoc CC in Cornwall in 2016, he joined Maghull CC in the Liverpool league before a 2 year stint at Leamington CC in the highly-rated Birmingham League. He’s given a very credible account of himself on each occasion, with a marked improvement in his batting through his time spent in the middle in league cricket over the last few years.

In summer 2021, William returned to the UK joining Elworth CC as they secured promotion to the ECB North Staffs South Cheshire League. William put together a solid all-round performance, with 346 runs @ 31.36 and 17 wickets @ 23.06, slightly down on previous seasons but still a heavy contribution towards the promotion.

He returned to form in 2022, smoking 946 runs @ 49.79 and chiming in with 33 wickets @ 22.12 with his best performance coming against Allscott Heath, powering his way to 148* (128) in a big 143-run win. He returned in 2023, playing as a batsman, scoring 920 runs @ 43.81 and winning three trophies in the process.

Summer 2024 saw William join Walsall CC in the Staffordshire league and he was exceptional for the club, scoring 1575 runs @ 63 and chipping in with 36 wickets for the summer.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, William will be a great pick up for a club seeking a genuine seam-bowling all-rounder for next summer. William has an ECB Level Two coaching qualification.
