Yamkela Oliphant

Yamkela is a bright prospect from South Africa’s Eastern Cape region but now plying his trade for South Western Districts in the Cricket South Africa Provincial competitions. An attacking left-hander, Yamkela is also an excellent wicket-keeper who despite not taking the gloves in all formats, has held his own as a batsman in a strong side consisiting of fellow WSX guns, Neil Hornbuckle, Obus Pienaar & Marco de Kock.

A compact left-hander, Yamkela’s aggressive style has won him fans within the coaching staff and his ability to score quickly, particularly in 3-Day cricket, gives the team a different dynamic which has worked since his inclusion.

Originating from the Eastern Cape, Yamkela was a regular for Border in various age groups and spent 3 seasons representing Border U19 at the national Khaya Majola Coke Week’s from the age of 16. He represented the Border Rural side at various Rural tournaments and was a regular for the University of Fort Hare at the National Club championships.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2022, Yamkela will be a good pick up for any club chasing an aggressive left-handed Middle Order Batsman who is also an excellent gloveman for this summer.
