Yaseen Valli is one of South African crickets most promising young cricketers. Yet another high class all-rounder produced by Gauteng/Lions, Yaseen has been a member of the Provincial representative sides since he was first selected for the Gauteng U15 side. Having progressed through the age groups, Yaseen’s talent became more and more obvious and he was duly selected for the South African U19 side for the 2014 U19 World Cup in the UAE. His 240 runs @ 80.00 & 11 wickets @ 10.81 saw him walk in to the ICC U19 World Cup team of the tournament and were the real stepping stone to launching his first class career which he did immediately upon his return home.
A natural leader, Yaseen has been given the captaincy of the Gauteng provincial team, such is his influence amongst the playing group and the respect they hold for him. A patient yet classy left-hander, under-used Left-arm Orthodox spinner, the start of the 2016-17 season saw Yaseen complete his studies and allow him the freedom to really focus on his cricket for summer 2016-17. The rewards were instantaneous, with 508 runs @ 84.66 at the halfway mark of the season including two outstanding hundreds, a 150* against Eastern Province and 182 against Easterns the cornerstones of an impressive start to the summer.
Yaseen ventured to the UK for the first time in 2019, joining Stenhousemuir CC in the Scottish Western League Firt Division. His impact with the bat was as expected, dominant. Yaseen scored 542 runs @ 54.20 and was crucial to the club maintaining their place in the league. In summer 2021, he linked with Gt Witchingham CC in the ECB East Anglian Premier League in a slightly shortened stint, scoring 557 runs @ 37.13 and chipping in with 13 wickets @ 18.15.
He returned in 2022 and was exceptional, with 1163 runs @ 61.21 with a best of 133* in a big match-winning chase against Swardeston CC. He finished as the leagues 2nd highest run-scorer.
A keen coach, Yaseen will be in hot demand for UK club cricket next summer.
