Yashu Sharma is a an outstanding young talent from Rohtak in Haryana, India. An attacking left-hander, Yashu is a clean-hitting top order batsman with a penchant for big hundreds in both red and white-ball cricket. Yashu also bowls some occasional off-spin.
A regular for Haryana U16 from the age of 13, Yashu stepped into the state U19 side at 15, spending the next 4 seasons in that squad, representing Haryana in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (50-Over) and Cooch Behar Trophy (4-day) competitions throughout. Yashu remained in the state system from 2017-onward, playing a key role as part of the Haryana U23 CK Nayudu Trophy side. His maintained selection throughout the younger sage groups was perhaps more on promise than consistent performance but the persistence has paid off with Yashu becoming one of the Haryana U23’s most prolific run-scorers.
His progression from age group to professional cricket was sealed when selected for the Haryana Senior side alongside former Test/ODI players, Jayant Yadav & Amit Mishra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20. He would go on to make his List A and First Class debut’s within 12 months.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2023, Yashu requires a few more First Class game to qualify for his International Sportspersons visa but will be an excellent pick up for any UK club seeking a prolific Left-hander that can contribute with the ball as well for next summer.
