Yassar is an aggressive and exciting Top Order Batsman from Gauteng in South Africa. A fit and athletic cricketer, Yassar likes to lead by example of the training park and prides himself on his fitness. A dashing batsman, Yassar likes to score quickly and get an innings off to a flyer.
Having been selected in just about every representative team he could make through the age groups from Guateng to SA U19 Invitational sides, Yassar made his First Class debut at just 18 years old, scoring a patient 55 from 121 balls against an experience Boland Provincial side. Since that time, Yassar has gone on to play over 130 provincial games for Guateng/Mpumalanga in all formats. In 2015-16, Yassar made his franchise debut for the Lions against the Warriors outfit, scoring 42 & 35 in a confident start. He backed this up with a quality 92 off 127 balls against the Cape Cobras in a mammoth total of 580.
In his first full season as a pro in 2018, Yassar joined Purton CC in the ECB West of England struture. He dominated for the club despite being a late arrival due to paperwork issues. Despite arriving in June, Yassar managed to compile 1497 runs @ 78.79 in all formats with a best of 165 (94) as PCC chased down Warminster’s 278 in just 44 overs. His 776 runs @ 70.55 in the league saw him finish top of the log.
Yassar returned to Europe in 2019, joining North County CC in the Republic of Ireland and was again a standout, scoring 778 runs @ 48.63 and picking up 23 wickets @ 17.30 throughout the 2019 summer.
Yassar returned to the WEPL in 2023, signing for Royal Wootton Bassett CC and was excellent, with 989 runs @ 43.00 with a best of 111* in the league. He headed to Scotland for the 2024 summer, joining Clydesdale CC in the WDCU Prem, scoring 645 runs @ 35 and chiming in with 14 wickets @ 13.64 with a best of 4-1.
A hard worker off the field, Yassar has matured quickly and is now seeking to join a strong UK/EU Club for next summer and will provide a quality option at the top of the order for any UK club seeking a highly talented batsman that can bowl better than useful off-spin/medium pace. Yassar is a Cricket South Africa Level 2 coach
