Zack Momberg

Zack Momberg is a fiery all-rounder originally from Johannesburg but now based down in Oudtshoorn having been contracted by the Garden Route Badgers (or South Western Districts). A brutal Right-handed Batsman that, whilst clearly a clean striker, is described by many as a stoic/gritty middle order player that is often a source of resistance. However, his predominant skill is his Right-arm Fast/Medium seam bowling with genuine pace and a nasty bouncer.

From a sporting family, Zack was schooled at the renowned King Edward School, for whom he starred on the field, Zack made a few local headlines post-COVID after a video of him went viral in South Africa, as a 16 year old, giving Steve Smith some chin music in the nets. He went on to represent Gauteng at the prestigious Khaya Majola Coke Week national tournament. He made his professional debut for the Lions franchise in the one-day cup in what was a baptism of fire.

Ahead of summer 2025/26, Zack entered a professional contract with the Garden Route Badgers. His ability to adapt to different formats of the game has seen him become a key figure in what, at the time of writing, was the form Division 2 side. His 11 wickets @ 17.36 including a debut 5-54 against Mpumalanga sees SWD in a very solid position with promotion on the line.

Seeking his first season in the UK in summer 2026, Zack will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a genuine seam-bowling all-rounder for the summer. Zack is a keen coach and is keen to be involved in all aspects of club life.
