Dyllan Matthews is a outstanding spin-bowling talent from South Africa. A hard-hitting Middle Order Batsman, Dyllan is an exceptional Leg-Spinner that has good variation which has suited the white-ball formats in particular. Originally from Cape Town, Dyllan attended the prestigious Wynberg Boys High School, where he was clearly a standout. A regular feature for the Western Province age group sides throughout his youth cricket, Dyllan was first selected at U13 level.

After completing his schooling, he opted to study at North West University (Pukke). It was whilst in Potchefstroom, Dyllan was given his first class cap, for North West against Free State. Whilst his debut didn’t go to plan, he showed enough promise and his hard work paid off winning regular births in the North West Provincial side and more recently the Easterns Provincial side. In late summer 2019-20, he got an opportunity to link with the Warriors Franchise for their One-Day cup.

In all, Dyllan has made over 60 professional appearances in SA domestic cricket, the majority of those in the shorter formats, where he has been particularly effective. In his 43 List A/T20 matches to date, Dyllan has bagged 65 wickets @ 22.21 but even more impressive is his strike rate of a wicket every 23 balls.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2021, Dyllan joined Fleetwood CC in the ECB Northern Premier League. Despite the campaign finishing with relegation, Dyllan did his best to keep the club up, contributing 449 runs & bagging 51 wickets @ 14.61 which was an excellent return for his first season here in the UK.

He returned for the 2022 season, joining Ryton CC but his season was cut short by a serious knee injury. The timing couldn’t have been worse with Dyllan having scored 271 runs @ 67.75 and taken 23 wickets @ 7.96 to start the summer.

A friendly lad and keen coach, Dyllan will be a great pick up for any club seeking a pro to take the ball away from the right-hander and contribute with the bat.
