Jake Gibson is a talented Seam-bowling All-Rounder, originally from Te Awamutu but now based in Dunedin. A nippy Right-arm Fast/Medium seamer, Jake is also a very capable Right-handed Top/Middle Order Batsman who has been used to great effect opening up in the T20 format by Otago. After coming through the Northern Districts pathways system from U19 through to the Senior Men’s squad, Jake headed south to get out of his comfort zone and try his hand with the Otago Volts.

Having represented the Waikato Valley Reps after coming out of age group Cricket, Jake persisted pursuing the Pro Cricket dream and eventually made his One-Day debut for Northern Districts in the 2019-20 Ford Trophy, bagging 5-31. Limited to a handful of games, the opportunity to link with Otago was a no-brainer and he’s since gone on to represent his adopted State across all 3 formats.

Jake was selected to represent the New Zealand XI against England and India in summer 2019-20, bagging the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha and Sam Billings.

Summer 2022-23 was a breakout for Jake with his new role at the top of the order in T20 cricket, finishing as the 5th highest scorer in the Super Smash with 266 runs @ 33.25 at an impressive strike rate of 148.60

Jake has previously visited the UK, with back-to-back seasons for Almondbury Wesleyans CC in the Huddersfield League in 2016 & 2017. A valuable cricket experience that he found helped to take his game to a new level.

Jake returned in 2025, this time as a fully fledged professional, joining Cuckfield CC in the ECB Sussex Premier Division. A genuine all-rounder performance, with 652 runs @ 36.22 including a best of 158 against Roffey CC, he also bagged 30 wickets at 30.37.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Jake will be an excellent signing for any club seeking a sharp, new-ball bowler that is a very capable top/middle order batsman with a proven track record of scoring runs at both the Professional and Premier League level. Jake will be travelling with his partner.
