Jerome Bossr is a talented all-round sportsman from South Africa’s Eastern Cape. An outstanding schoolboy rugby prospect he has opted to follow Cricket as his chosen sport. A patient, Left-handed Top Order Batsman, Jerome is also an occasional Slow Left-arm Orthodox spinner and athletic fielder. Having been a regular for the Border age group sides from U13 through to U17, Jerome moved to Natal to finish his schooling at Glenwood High School.
The change of province didn’t diminish his chances for representative selection, slotting straight in to the Kwa-Zulu Natal Khaya Majola Coke Week National U19 championships two years running. He was selected for the Dolphins Cubs to represent the province at the National Cubs weeks and ultimately was selected for the South African U19 side for their tour to Sri Lanka. He returned to his native Border to study at the University of Fort Hare and for the 2019-20 summer was included in the Senior Provincial squad.
Jerome made his List A debut in October 2019 for Border in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge and made his First-Class a month later. Whilst not having the most prolific of starts to his career, in his final 3-day game of the season he showed plenty of ticker trying to stave of a flogging from his former province with a gritty 50 (135) over nearly 3 hours.
Jerome had his first season in the UK in 2022 joining ECB Devon Premier League club, Plymouth CC. Whilst the season was a tough one for the club, Jerome was excellent, scoring 878 runs @ 46.21 with a league best of 155. He returned in 2023, joining Woodhouse Grange CC in the ECB Yorkshire North Premier League, scoring 551 runs @ 39.36 with a best of 142 (106) against York CC.
Summer 2024 saw Jerome return to the UK, this time joining Cove CC in the Thames Valley League and was well received by West Londoners, scoring 706 runs @ 50.43 including an monstrous 221* (159) against Harpsden CC.
Seeking to play abroad next summer, Jerome will be a good pick up for any club seeking a Top Order Batsman that can contribute with the ball on occasion.
