Nonelela Yikha is a promising all-rounder from South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province of Border. A product of Hudson Park High School, which has become somewhat of a cricketer factory, Nonelela is a patient Right-handed Middle Order Batsman and aggressive Right-arm Off-Spin bowler. A standout performer for the School, Nonelela flew under the radar for the most part until he was selected for the Border U17 side as he headed towards his senior years of High School. He would go on to not only represent Border at U19 level but was selected for the Warriors Cubs Franchise in summer 2018-19, predominantly as a spinner.
After initially producing his best performances for the province with the ball in hand throughout 2018-19 at age group level, 24 wickets @ 15.29 saw him selected for the South African U19 squad. Nonelela was selected to play one youth test and a handful of one-dayers for South Africa at U19 level throughout the summer. His performances continued to head on the upward curve in 2019-20 as he made his mark with his batting at the Khaya Majola Coke Week champiosnhips and later at the CSA Franchise cubs week. His combined return of 308 runs @ 38.50 and 12 wickets @ 27.16 saw Nonelela receive his senior provincial debut in January 2020 for Border in the 2019–20 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup. He made his List A debut the same week.
Seeking his first season abroad in 2023, Nonelela will be a good pick up for a club seeking a young, enthusiastic all-rounder that is keen to make his mark first time over that offers a match winning option with both bat and ball.
