Ruan Terblanche

Ruan Terblanche is an exciting young talent from South Africa’s Western Cape. A gifted Right-handed Top Order Batsman, Ruan was schooled at the renowned Cricket School, Paul Roos Gymnasium. A representative for Boland through the age groups, Ruan won selection for the South African U19 side in 2019, playing against Afghanistan, Pakistan and India throughout the year. He is now a contracted member of the Boland squad in South Africa’s top flight of provincial cricket.

Ruan made his first-class debut at the end of the 2018-19 summer in the March for Boland against the Free State. His List A debut followed the next summer with a solid 53 (83) against Eastern Province in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge and 12 months later his appearances across all three formats was complete with a Twenty20 debut in October 2021 for Boland in the 2021–22 CSA Provincial T20 Knock-Out tournament against Limpopo, scoring 28 (25).

Whilst his professional career hasn’t yet scaled the heights it is capable of, Ruan has a penchant for big scores with an incredible 323* (393) against Limpopo just prior to the COVID lockdown. Whilst the delay came at a bad time, Ruan hit the ground running in summer 2021-22 with a dominant display for the Boland Colts in the Provincial system feeder competition, pummelling a ridiculous 662 runs @ 110.33 across the 4-day & 1-Day competitions with 3 hundreds.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2023, Ruan joined Torquay CC in Devon and was unbelievable, scoring 1207 runs @ 92.85 with a best of 183* and five hundreds in total. He followed this up with an equally impressive 2024, with 1366 runs @ 56 for Welbeck CC in the ECB Notts Premier League

Ruan will be a hot pick for any club seeking a top order gun next summer with his powerful top order batting sure to set the club scene alight again next season.
