Sumit is a quality first class left arm spinner and middle order batsman currently playing for Chhattisgarh state team in India’s first class circuit. He also played for Vidarbha state side for 4 years after making his debut in December 2012.
In the 2017-18 season he was the leading wicket taker in the Ranji trophy for his state side with 23 dismissals with a 10 wicket haul in 6 matches. He has also represented the National cricket academy camps in 2007 and 2012.
Sumit has just finished an outstanding first season in the UK playing for Wallasay CC in the strong Liverpool Premier league taking 75 wickets at 11.76 and chipping in with 511 runs at 23.23 before having to return early for 1st class duties. He has agreed to return to the club for the 2021 season.
