Upul Indrasiri has a seasoned campaigner from Sri Lanka. A capable left-handed Batsman without being prolific, he is an outstanding left-arm Orthodox spinner with an exceptional record at both First Class and club level’s in Sri Lanka & in the UK. A schoolboy star, he was a regular at provincial age level, he made his first class debut as part of the stacked Sri Lanka Schools side which contained Lasith Malinga, Upul Tharanga and Jeewan Mendis.
In summer 2005/06, he was the leading wicket taker in First Class Cricket, collecting 60 wickets @ 13.55 and come summer 2007 became a regular in the UK club scene with seasons for Oulton CC, Moddershall CC in the North Staffs South Cheshire League, 4 summers with Marton CC in the ECB North Yorkshire South Durham League and a return to the North Staffs league with Blythe CC in 2014 & 2015.
He left Sri Lankan domestic cricket for two seasons, joining Spotswood CC in Melbourne for two summers in 2016/17 & 2017/18, helping himself to 80 wickets in 35 games before returning to the Sri Lankan system with Negombo CC in summer 2018/19.
Upul returned to the UK in 2021, linking with Gala CC in Scotland and was phenomenal. 456 runs @ 41.45 to go with 38 wickets @ 6.45 with a best of 6-1 was utterly incredible and led the club to promotion. He backed this up in 2022 with 845 runs @ 49.71 to go with 45 wickets @ 9.73 with a best of 6-8.
Looking to return to Europe next summer, Upul will be a hot pick up for any club seeking a strike left-arm spinner for next season. Upul is an ECB Level 2 qualified coach.
